Deck and Porch Process:
Design- We provide a free deck or porch consultation for every deck project. During
this meeting, we will discuss your deck or screened porch design. Once we have come to an agreement, our company
provides deck and porch customers with detailed drawings of the construction. Every drawing both decks and
screened porches, is based on the property discussed. There are many different patterns for deck boards. Some of
these decking pattern include: diagonal decking pattern, parallel decking pattern, inlaid octagon decking pattern, herringbone
(V shaped) decking pattern,and perimeter decking border. The craftsmanship behind our decks, is what sets us apart from many
other deck builders/companies.

| Low Maintanence Deck/ Screened Porch |
Deck Product Selection-
The standard for deck builders is to use pressure treated Pine for deck framing. 5/4"x6" pressure
treated Pine is a standard deck board used by many contractors.
Low Maintanence Decks- Here are some low maintanence deck procducts
used by many deck builders and contractors. Trex Decks- Low maintanence deck boards in a few different colors and
grain styles. Trex Accents is one of the most common deck boards they offer. Trex also offers some excellent low mainanence
deck railing options.
Timbertech Decks- Manufactures several types of low maintanence
deck boards and rail products.
Procell/Azek Decks- Manufacturer of extremely durable deck board. Also
known for there low maintanece trim for deck, porch and house trim.
Deck Permits- Deck permits in Montgomery County, MD are usually
a one day process. Other areas and screened porch permits can take up to 2 weeks for permiting. This includes City of Gaithersburg
and City of Rockville. Permits are generally obtained by the deck builder.
Deck Footings- Deck footings in Montgomery
County are generally 8"hX16"w and 24" below grade.
Deck Framing- Our deck ledger boards
are fastened with 1/2" lag bolts 12"0.c. Standard deck joists are 2"x8" or 2"x10" fastened with
ACQ rated deck hangers. We use 6"x6" posts to support the main deck support beam. This is a standard for most deck
contractors/builders. Another deck building standard is 12"o.c. or 16"o.c. floor joists depending on the decking
selected.
Deck
Board Installation- All deck boards are screw fastened to ensure durability. Wood deck boards will be pulled
tight together due to future shrinkage. Maintanence free deck boards are spaced based on manufacturer specs. Specific
decking patterns will be on plans.
Deck Railing Installation- Pressure treated deck rail
is very standard. The posts are 4"x4" and the balusters are 2"x2". The baluster are spaced less than 4"
apart. Low maintanence deck railings all vary based on the manufacturer.
